FACC Establishes Scholarship Program in 2002
By Cathy Naused
The Freedom Area Citizens' Council is proud and honored to announce
the establishment of the FACC Scholarship Program. The scholarship
will be awarded to one senior from each South Carroll area high
school. The FACC Board recently voted to, specifically, +award
seniors graduating from Liberty High School and South Carroll
High School in 2002 and 2003, and add Century High School to the
program in 2004. For the year 2002, each FACC Scholarship will
be given in the amount of $ 250 and shall be payable directly
to a college, university, junior college or community college.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student intending to major
in journalism or political science.
FACC has had a presence in the South Carroll area for over three
years to inform local citizens of various local and county issues
of interest. FACC is committed to playing a positive role in our
community. The organization has made many donations in the past
and will continue to give back to the community in the way of
donations when an opportunity arises.
To establish a scholarship program has been a goal of the FACC
organization. Pam Seiter, FACC Treasurer for over 2 years and
newly appointed Chairperson of the Scholarship Program, made the
commitment to put FACC in the position to make this possible.
"This is an ideal way to make a contribution to the community
and recognize that there are hard-working, talented young people
who deserve our recognition,"
stated Ms. Seiter.
The FACC Scholarship applications and guidelines may now be obtained
through a counselor at the high schools or by requesting in writing
to the FACC, P.O. Box 142, Sykesville, MD 21784.
The deadline for the application and all required documentation
must be returned by April 15, 2002 to FACC Scholarship Chairperson,
P.O. 142, Sykesville, MD 21784.
The awards will be made to the seniors at their school's Senior
Awards Ceremony.
